Kylie is Potty Training!

Readers Beware: I am writing this to document the potty training so you may not want to hear all the details. Feel free to skip over this post.

Kylie has used the potty a few times in the past few months. She would be interested once and then not interested at all, and so forth. I didn't push it though and figured she'd want to learn soon.

My sister wanted to potty train her son so she decided to make a party out of it. We started on Thursday, May 15 at my mom's house. Brian was catching on and doing quite well. Kylie was not doing as well as I'd hoped. She would not pee when I put her on the potty. Brian was getting treats and got to wear an Elmo party hat, but she still didn't pee in the toilet even though she saw him getting treats.

I was completely exhausted that evening. I felt like I got nothing accomplished and was worn out from following her around to make sure that she didn't sit on the cloth couch, etc.

I continued at home on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with no success. I didn't want to give up because I had already spent 4 days on this with Kylie so I kept at it. I made sure I didn't get mad, but was really hoping she'd catch on soon.

Monday she got it! I let her run around in a t-shirt only, which seemed to be just what she needed. I had the little potty in the room we were in. I spent the morning fixing our kitchen faucet and she helped me with her own little tools. We had the potty near there and she would sit down occasionally. She finally did it and was so excited. She was able to get a treat from her treasure box finally. She chose a huge lollipop from Disneyland. She also got to wear an Elmo party hat finally! She was fabulous that day and went 6 times (4 times #1 and 2 times #2).

On Tuesday we were out of the house in the morning for about 4 hours and she remained dry in her pullup the whole time. While we were out she tried the potty, but didn't have to go. We came home for a bit then went out again for another couple hours and she stayed dry that time also. I was really amazed. She peed only twice that day so I was expecting a full diaper that night, which was the case.

On Wednesday she tried wearing panties around the house instead of wearing nothing. She is having to learn to pull them up and down. We had two accidents, but not a big deal.

Today, Thursday, she was really great. She stayed dry all day wearing panties and had zero accidents.
I am very excited for her progress and hope it continues.

Sunglasses

As some of you know, Kylie loves Sunglasses. I put sunglasses on her from an early age and she absolutely loves wearing them. I think she has about 7 pairs of glasses and doesn't go anywhere outside without them. If we are in the sun and she doesn't have them, she'll definitely be asking for them. Anyway, I put some on Gavin for the first time and he liked them. He didn't try to grab at them or take them off! We're off to a good start with him. Here they are in the stroller ready for a short walk to Grandma's house. I tried putting G's hair in a mohawk and this is the after nap look.

Sweet Siblings

Kylie puts her arm around her brother as we shop for groceries. She loves her little brother a lot. She has started talking for the both of them now. She will ask him a question and then change her voice to a high pitch tone and answer back for him. It's quite funny and cute to watch.

Gavin's 1st Haircut

I took Gavin to get his first official haircut. In the past, I tried trimming the hair by his ears and at the back of his neck, but he needed a professional!
Here is a before and an after pic.

TAG - I'm It

I was tagged by two people so I figure I better deliver.

1. 10 years ago: I was in Utah going to school and having a fabulous time. My few years in Utah were some of the best. I have some awesome memories and had many fun experiences. The best part is that Tyrus and I knew each other and were friends back then so some of my memories are with him.
2. Things on my TO DO LIST: update baby books, order pictures (haven't done so in 7 months - you think I'm slow at blogging:-)), send latest pics of kids to Ty's mom, clean my office, finish the huge project I've started in the backyard (I didn't know that trimming our hedges was going to take so long and require so many trash bags), lose weight before we go to Hawaii (I've been procrastinating this one because I absolutely love food and sweets way too much)
3. Things I would do if I were a billionaire: Pay off debt and travel
4. Five jobs I've had: I'll start with my current job - 1. Travel manager for Univers Workplace Benefits, 2. Assistant to CEO for Basic Research in Utah, 3. retail job at GNC in the Orem,UT Mall, 4. Chevy's (it was a new one that opened in Orem and a bunch of us friends decided to work there. They had training that lasted about a week. I lasted about one day past that. I was told to keep guests drinks full, so I did. When I was cleaning up a table, their water glasses were full because I kept filling them. Well, I put them all on the tray and as I lifted it, I dumped the whole thing on me. It was very embarrassing to say the least.) I decided waitressing was not for me. 5. Installed home security systems
5. Six things people don't know about me: 1. I have a disgusting habit of burping loudly, however cannot burp on cue. It has to come out naturally 2. I'm very shy if I don't know someone and have to work hard to not be shy (if I know you then I'm not shy though) 3. I love butts. I like to squeeze Kylie and Gavin's buns because they are so stinkin' squeezable. I love Ty's butt. I wonder why mine can't be all muscle. It's so not fare! 4. I am very handy. I do a lot of the handy work around the house because I enjoy it. 5. I used to install home security systems - Tyrus would sell them and I would install them. It was a great job and had great hours and pay 6. I have always had a spending problem. I like to buy things even though we don't even need them. I am trying really hard to work on this though because I'm trying to declutter my house (thanks to Oprah) and know that I can't keep bringing stuff into my house.
6. Five places I've lived: Newport Beach, Rexburg, Provo, Orem, Jerusalem, Modesto, Roseville, Costa Mesa (I know, that's 8 places)
7. I Tag:: Jen Belnap, Jen Gilmore, Joanna, Brooke, Melanie and anyone else who hasn't done this yet.

Grass Sledding

We bought these snow sleds a few years ago and have only used them in the snow once. They have come in quite handy for other events though. Kylie has enjoyed sledding behind our house in the warm weather. No coat, hat, or mittens required. Tyrus is very creative in thinking of fun things to do with Kylie. I'm not creative enough to have thought of this. Anyway, they both love the outdoors and always have so much fun together.
